For you to understand my frustration, first you must hear about my experience with Youth Football last year.
I enrolled my son with a reputable organization so I thought. Well we got one hell of an experience. It left such a bad taste in my mouth from the very beginning and disapointed my son to the point, he never wants to play football again! Absolutely unbelievable disorganization.
To start the season there were a series of practices with no coach in place. Yes, no coach! So parents were left to volunteer and look lost to start. Thankfully a few parents did step up, however it seemed like they were partial to their children playing in the game. Here I am, just a mom, I didnt have a man to stand up for my child, so it was hard. Now, my oldest son by no means sucks at football, he plays yardball very hard with this older friends all the time. They love him and always have him come play, argue over whose team he will be on, in a good way. He has the drive, he wants to play, he sucks it up when hurt, what more can you want? Oh anyhow...First game, we had no coach, NO COACH...Ugh
We attended every game, practice, everything. Got there early, left late. I would take him to 9am Sat practice all 6 kids in tow, one of which was a newborn baby, I had just given birth the same week football started. I busted my ass, I had a 1 year old, a newborn, a 5, 7, and 8 year old to care for while the 9 year old practiced...I would get my blanket out, my bag of toys, our snacks, the water jug, and set up for the next two hours. Games were the same. It was soo hard, times I wanted to cry, times I did cry when it was all said and done. My husband was deployed, it just sucked. I was alone in this battle of disorganization. I made my son suck it up and finish out over half the season, then I give up. We wouldnt be notified of game changes until last minute, perhaps an hour before the game, wtf? Games would change fields, times, everything, because we never had a coach to set anything in stone, well we did, but he also played Adult Soccer and had other youth sports he was involved in.(way overloaded on his part)...okay...so the whole experience sucked ass, lesson learned we will go through someone else if he ever wants to play again.
So, Soccer Season 1 went well here in Arkansas. Soccer Season 2...has just started and I was so very extatic. That was until 3pm today, when our game is at 7pm the Soccer Commissioner emails to let us know that there will be a sub there for the kids game. Someone the kids don't know, let alone, the kids just had their first and only practice Monday, one practice before a competitive game. This is absolutely insane!
I said f it and told the kids the game was canceled, I caught hell. I am not going through the same dissapointment I went through last year. This organization knew they were not going to have a coach they should have offered refunds or a alternative through another organization. I absolutely refuse to have a negative experience like I did last year. Now I have went out and purchased new cleats, balls, guards, socks, and the expense of t shirts and memberships.(yeah t shirts this organization doesnt even get uniforms, just a tshirt and we have to pay for it). We also have to pay admission to all our games. We don't get nothing for the $60 registration fee. We have no coach, no uniforms, no schedule...
My husband is going to volunteer to help coach the team, oh excuse me he volunteered, they are pretty much going to have him COACH the team. So then everything will fall on our shoulders. However he just come stateside from his deployment and will not be here with us until the end of March. We have potentially 3 games between now and then and we should be having a ton of practices.
Bleh, I just needed to vent. I am going to def. try and go before the board of this organization and express my frustrations and concerns about what they do with their money.
This just sux rear end...royally...
