This little scooter was awesome and had the battery not gone bad it would not have ever went curbside :(.  It lasted us a good 2 years before I had to throw it out though, we bought it for my daughters 5th birthday and she is now 8 ( we got rid of it when she was 7).  I think 4-6 would be the most approrpiate age for this toy.  It has plenty of room for bigger children and is easy to get on and off of, unlike some power wheels.  The battery always seemed to stay charged for a good 1-2 hours, and it does take 12 hours to charge, however so do most power wheels and when I called there was no way to get a replacement battery for the kid trax brand, hopefully this has changed.
