This is an awesome product. Yes the box says ages 2 plus, however my 17 month old has learned her alphabet thanks to LeapFrog. She will go to the fridge and has been since about 12 months and push the little yellow button and sing her abc song, hum, murmer, whatever you may call it. I know it is the alphabet and some letters sound perfect. We have a set at mommies and grandmas.
We also had this item for my 5 year old daughters 2nd birthday (the first time we had it) and she used it from age 2-4, then upgraded to the one with three letter words. Anyways it is excellent for phonics and the sounds as well as learning the letters. Again, this is a must have for any child 1 or above.
